The font-wide metrics and attributes of a simple font or CIDFont: a live view over a font descriptor dictionary.
public sealed class PdfFontDescriptor
ISO 32000-2 §9.8.1, Table 120, and §9.8.2. Every property reads the dictionary when called, so a change made through
Dictionary is visible at once. An absent or malformed entry reads as the default Table 120 gives (0 for the optional
numbers), or as null for entries without one; the font that uses the descriptor records a diagnostic for a
malformed or missing required entry when it is first used. Dimensions are in glyph space units: thousandths of text space for
every font type except Type 3 (§9.2.4).
A non-embedded Standard 14 font may have no font descriptor (§9.6.2.1, the paragraph after Table 109); a processor shall then
provide the descriptor data itself. Descriptor returns a synthesized descriptor for such a font, with
Dictionary null and values from the font's AFM file: FontBBox, ItalicAngle, CapHeight, XHeight,
Ascender (Ascent), Descender (Descent), StdVW (StemV) and StdHW (StemH). Symbol and ZapfDingbats have no CapHeight, XHeight,
Ascender or Descender in their AFM files; their font box supplies Ascent, Descent and CapHeight, and XHeight is 0.
kind:method, kind:property, kind:ctor. Press Esc to clear.AscentGets the maximum height above the baseline reached by glyphs, excluding accents.AvgWidthGets the average glyph width.CapHeightGets the height of flat capital letters above the baseline.CharSetGets the names of the glyphs of a Type 1 font subset, each preceded by a slash; null when absent.CidSetGets the stream that lists which CIDs a CIDFont subset has, or null when absent or not a stream.ClassDescriptorsGets the font descriptors that override this one's metrics for classes of a CIDFont's glyphs, by class name (such as Proportional or HKana, Table 123); empty when there are none. Entries that are not dictionaries, or that name a font file, are left out.DescentGets the maximum depth below the baseline reached by glyphs; a negative number.DictionaryGets the font descriptor dictionary, or null for the descriptor of a Standard 14 font that has none.FlagsGets the font flags; none when absent.FontBBoxGets the font bounding box in glyph space; empty at the origin when absent or malformed.FontFamilyGets the preferred font family name, such as Times for Times Bold Italic; null when absent.FontFileGets the embedded Type 1 font program, or null.FontFile2Gets the embedded TrueType font program, or null.FontFile3Gets the embedded font program whose format the stream's Subtype names, or null.FontNameGets the PostScript name of the font, which shall equal the font's BaseFont; null when absent.FontStretchGets the font stretch; null when absent or not one of the nine names.FontWeightGets the weight: 100 to 900 in steps of 100, 400 normal and 700 bold; null when absent or another value.IsSynthesizedGets a value indicating whether the descriptor is synthesized from Standard 14 metrics instead of read from the file.ItalicAngleGets the angle of the dominant vertical strokes, in degrees counterclockwise from the vertical (negative for right-slanting italics).LanguageGets the language of a CIDFont, a BCP 47 language tag such as ja; null when absent or not a name.LeadingGets the spacing between baselines of consecutive lines.MaxWidthGets the maximum glyph width.MissingWidthGets the width of character codes outside the font's FirstChar to LastChar range.PanoseGets the 12-byte Panose classification of a CIDFont's glyphs, from the Panose entry of its Style dictionary: the font family class and subclass of the "OS/2" table, then the ten PANOSE bytes; null when absent or not 12 bytes.ReferenceGets the indirect reference to the font descriptor, or null when it is a direct object or synthesized.StemHGets the vertical thickness of the dominant horizontal stems; 0 when unknown.StemVGets the horizontal thickness of the dominant vertical stems; 0 when unknown.XHeightGets the height of flat non-ascending lowercase letters above the baseline.ContainsCid(Int32)Returns whether a CIDFont subset's CIDSet lists a CID; null when there is no CIDSet.
