FlowBlockOne block of a FlowDocument: something laid out top to bottom in the content area, breaking across pages. Every block names the structure element it becomes when the output is tagged.
FlowDocumentA flow-layout document: blocks laid out top to bottom in the body area of pages of a PageTemplate (one per section, StartSection(PageTemplate)), starting a new page whenever the next line would cross the bottom of the body area. Render(PdfDocument) appends the pages to a PdfDocument and draws through its canvas, so the result saves like any other page content.
FlowTaggingHow Render(PdfDocument) tags what it lays out: a structure tree built while the flow is drawn, one element per block and part, in construction order, with the page content of each tied to it by MCID and everything else (page backgrounds, watermarks, headers and footers, table rules and backgrounds, repeated table headers, underlines) marked as artifacts.
HeaderFooterA one-line header or footer: up to three texts, left-aligned at the left margin, centred between the margins and right-aligned at the right margin, in one style. A text may hold the fields PageNumberField and PageCountField.
ImageBlockAn image on its own between blocks, aligned left, centred or right in the content area. An image wider than the content area or taller than a page's content area is scaled down, keeping its aspect ratio; one that does not fit below the cursor starts a page.
InlineElementOne piece of a paragraph's content: a TextRun or an InlineImage. Every piece names the structure element it becomes when the output is tagged.
InlineImageAn image placed in a line of text like a glyph: its bottom edge on the baseline, raising the line when taller than the text.
ListBlockA bulleted or numbered list. Each item's blocks are indented by Indent from the list's left edge, and its marker is drawn right-aligned in that indent on the baseline of the item's first line. Lists nest through items holding lists; items break across pages like their blocks.
ListItemOne item of a ListBlock: blocks (paragraphs, images, nested lists) laid out beside one marker.
ListStyleThe look of a list: numbering, marker text and style, and the indent of the items' content. Immutable; the With* methods return a changed copy.
PageTemplateHow the pages of a section of a FlowDocument look: the page size, orientation and margins, a background colour or image and a watermark under the body, and headers and footers, with their own variants for the first page of the section and for even-numbered pages. One template may serve several sections. Immutable once built.
ParagraphA paragraph of text in one style, broken into lines greedily: each line takes as much text as fits the content width, ending at a line break opportunity of the Unicode Line Breaking Algorithm, and a hard line break (line feed, carriage return, next line, line or paragraph separator, vertical tab, form feed) always ends a line. Lines are aligned or justified and placed one line height apart, continuing on the next page when a line would cross the bottom margin.
ParagraphStyleThe font, size, line height, alignment, indent and spacing of a Paragraph. Immutable; With* returns a changed copy, so one style can be shared by many paragraphs.
TableA table: columns sized fixed, by percentage, proportionally or to their content; cells with padding, borders and backgrounds, spanning rows and columns; header rows repeated at the top of every page; rows split across pages or kept together. Rows joined by a row span stay on one page.
TableBorderThe border stroked around a cell: its line width and colour. A width of 0 draws no border.
TableCellOne cell of a TableRow: blocks (paragraphs, lists, images, tables) laid out inside its padding, spanning ColumnSpan columns and RowSpan rows. Tagged as TH when in a header row or given a Scope, otherwise TD.
TableRowOne row of a Table: its cells left to right, skipping columns that cells of rows above span into.
TableStyleThe look of a Table: default cell padding and border, backgrounds, whether rows may split across pages, and whether header rows repeat at the top of every page. Immutable; the With* methods return changed copies.
TextRunA run of text in one TextStyle, optionally a link. Runs of different fonts and sizes share a line and its baseline; lines break inside and between runs.
TextStyleThe character style of a run of text: font, size, fill colour, underline, strike-through, kerning and shaping. Immutable; the With* methods return a changed copy. A bold or italic run is a run in a bold or italic font.
WatermarkText drawn large, rotated and translucent across the centre of every page of a template, under the body.
Structs (4)
CellPaddingThe space between a cell's border and its content, per side, in points.
ColumnWidthThe width of one column of a Table: fixed, a percentage, a proportional share, or content-sized.
PageMarginsThe four margins of a page, in points, between the media box edges and the content area text flows in.
PageSetupThe size and margins of the pages a FlowDocument creates: the media box is [0 0 Width Height] and the content area is the media box less the margins. Immutable; With* returns a changed copy.
